The Graphic Design program at The Art Institute Online, a division of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, is the first step toward a career in commercial graphics. Initially, students develop an understanding of color and composition, design and typography, and drawing board skills. As they progress through the program, students are trained in creative problem solving and learn to offer solutions that are effective in the business world.
Emphasis is placed on learning the skills and techniques of computer graphics, electronic imaging, and production. Tools include scanners, digital cameras, and computer-based hardware and software.
By graduation, Graphic Design students have acquired the training and the portfolio necessary to interview for entry-level positions in advertising agencies, design studios, publishing houses, corporate communications departments, and television studios.

The Associate of Science degree in Multimedia & Web Design was created to prepare today's students for careers involving the Internet and marketing and design. Multimedia & Web Design is a professional discipline which integrates the elements of audio, video, still images, animation, text, and data for the delivery of interactive content either through CDROM or over the World-Wide Web. The Associate of Science degree career track marries the student's individual artistic abilities with complex technological skills so that the graduate is prepared to adapt once he or she enters this fast-evolving field.
Students can apply for entry-level career opportunities with corporations, organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, entertainment, and advertising industries.
Course work begins with drawing and design, digital image manipulation, multimedia system design, scriptwriting, sound, video, and animation, then progresses to more complex classes such as interactive information design and Web development -- all under the guidance of faculty members recruited from this fascinating industry. At graduation, students have an individualized digital portfolio to showcase for prospective employers the practical skills and technical expertise they have acquired.

The Interior Design Bachelor of Science degree program is now offered by The Art Institute Online, a division of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
Part art, part science, interior design goes far beyond decorating. Interior designers have a profound impact on people's lives by creating the surroundings in which they live, work and play.
As a student in the Interior Design program, you'll study computer-aided drafting and design, 3D design, space planning, problem solving, and the history of design and architecture. Coursework also covers specialty design, including exhibit design, hospitality design, retail store design and corporate design. In addition, you'll learn how to communicate your design solutions through a variety of visual media.

The Residential Design diploma program at The Art Institute Online, a division of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, will help you elevate your flair for decorating to a professional level. You'll study textiles, historic and contemporary styles, space planning, kitchen and bath design, and computer-aided drafting and design. Digital Design Diploma Program |
|
Through the diploma program in Digital Design at The Art Institute Online, students can pursue concentrated studies to improve existing skills, or better prepare for career changes or promotion.
Courses are offered in a six-week intensive format during which students complete assignments and participate in online discussions five days per week. Students may complete their work on those days at any time during a 24-hour period. Students are encouraged to take a maximum of two courses during each six-week session. There are two six-week sessions within each quarter.
Digital Design students learn design fundamentals, lettering and typography, and graphic design. Students create color composites and renderings, and are introduced to using computer applications and sophisticated software as design tools. Students use these tools to create high quality layouts and designs.
Diploma program students come from diverse backgrounds and have different individual goals - but they all have a common desire to grow through education.
Faculty members for this diploma program are experienced professionals who encourage the development of skills. As students advance in the program, they are guided by their instructors in developing portfolios to show prospective employers.
The Digital Design program provides students with a solid foundation for career growth. Graduates are qualified for many entry-level positions, including production or computer artists at newspapers, advertising agencies, or television stations.
